The real success of Whyndyke as a healthy new town will be through community engagement that achieves ownership of the community by the community, from the day the first spade is in the ground.

The real difference can only be achieved through the people that make up the Whyndyke community. Technology, design, infrastructure, transport and planning are all tools used to facilitate healthy attitudes to provide the homes, jobs and services that people need; reducing environmental risks and delivering well designed buildings and urban spaces which will create the conditions for healthy, active lifestyles. Education, employment, leisure, health and residential accommodation are all included on the site, with the opportunity to integrate efficiently and effectively with mature settlements. A significant new health facility will sit adjacent to the site that would enhance the prospect of a community that can deliver all the needs of the local population.

The vision is a community where the healthy lifestyle option is the default lifestyle option, and health and wellbeing are second nature, not after thoughts.
